Story Tellers Association of California in conjunction with
The Caning Shop, in Berkeley, will present a Gourd Rattle Making and Storytelling Workshop.
The first half of the workshop Jim Widess and Daniel Randolph will provide materials for students to make a rattle out of a gourd and decorate it, including carving, painting, decorating and burning etc. In addition, Jim and Daniel will share with you their collection of gourds from around the world and provide information about gourds (such as the gourds themselves, history, instrument-making, storytelling etc.).
In the second half of the workshop storyteller Marijo will provide a workshop and instruction on how to incorporate gourds and other simple instruments into storytelling by providing examples and getting the students up and involved using their gourds!
Great for children!
